This week marks the 10 year anniversary of Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW).
The Global Entrepreneurship Week event runs from November 12 to 18. Universities and community leaders are organizing learning opportunities, networking and skill building in their local area. Anyone in the local area who is interested in starting a business will be able to attend.
With events going on in the U.S. from coast to coast, here are some highlights of what you can expect…
The Mesa Arc Center, 1 E. Main St. in Mesa will be hosting an event Wednesday, Nov 14 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
The focus of the event is to increase support for the local entrepreneurial community. The Mesa event will have keynote speaker Raveen Arora, CEO and founder of Think Human Initiative. The day will include panel discussions, interactive workshops, networking, and lunch.
Need to get inspired? “Dream, Discover, Disrupt” holds an event Tuesday, Nov 13 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. You will be able to meet fellow entrepreneurs at NEXPO Thursday, Nov 15 from 7 to 9 p.m. Both Global Entrepreneurship Week events are to be held in the Interdisciplinary Science and Engineering Complex at Northeastern University.
You will also be able to hear at Northeastern venture pitches on Demo Day Wednesday, Nov 14 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Curry Student Center.
The week is starting off with an opening party in Fort Worth. The event at the University of North Texas Health Science Center will be held in the brand new IREB building.
At the parties, entrepreneurs will have opportunities to connect and inspire one another. The goal of the week is to build the entrepreneurial community, with opportunities to meet local entrepreneurs, investors, and researchers.
There’s a lot going on in Florida, with more than 11 Global Entrepreneurship Week events scheduled from November 10 to 18.
Some of the highlights are Techstar Startup Weekend from Friday, November 16 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday. This event is being sponsored by Clearwater-based KnowBe4 and tech company.
Another great event is USF Connect’s Building Entrepreneurship Around TampaBay. The event will host keynote speaker John Spence. Spence is an international business speaker, author, and leader.
Tiffany Norwood is a black female global serial entrepreneur. For Global Entrepreneurship Week Norwood travels to the Inaugural S.C. Women’s Business Summit Friday, November 16, 2018. Norwood, with 30 years experience, will be addressing women downtown at the Columbia Campus.
The event is hosted by the Women’s Business Center of South Carolina and sponsored by the South Carolina Department of Commerce Office of Innovation and Grow with Google.
Dr Kasie Whitener, co-founder of the Women’s Business Center of S.C. said: “Here in South Carolina, we have more than 150,000 women business owners. We are raising our hands together to support women-driven business, as well as companies and organizations that value strength in diversity.”
Global Entrepreneurship Week is being held in conjunction with Entrepreneurship Fall Forum from November 7 to 15. Penn State GEW celebrates with workshops, dynamic speakers. These events will help expose more students and local entrepreneurs with resources that are available through the University.
Events will be held all week from Monday to Saturday. NextCorps will hold and Innovation Week, in the Rochester area. The week will increase awareness of resources and programs available to them. AT&T and the Greater Rochester Enterprise are sponsoring the event.
